Some Changes in the Unlicensed Electricity Production Regulation
Amendments to the Unlicensed Electricity Generation Regulation
On March 18, 2024, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) presented a draft amendment to the Unlicensed Electricity Generation Regulation to the public. This amendment was officially published and came into effect on May 14, 2024, in the Official Gazette No. 32546. The regulation includes changes to nine articles and an additional temporary article.
Key changes include:
- Providing a one-year period from the date of the call letter to apply for a connection agreement,
- Extending the planning process until acceptance,
- Allowing the completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process during project approval,
- Permitting partial acceptances for capacities over 10 MWe,
- Allowing an increase in mechanical installed power compared to electrical power, with up to 20% for projects before 2019 and up to double for projects after 2019.
